Is refractive surgery permanent? This will depend on the type of refractive surgery. All laser surgeries permanently change the shape of the cornea, as does RK. Intrastromal Corneal Ring Segments (ICRS, tradename Intacs), Intraocular Lens (IOL), and Implantable Contact Lenses (ICL) are removable.
These technologies provide the ability to remove the prosthetic device, however it would be unreasonable to assume that any surgical procedure can be 100% reversible.
Despite the permanence of the changes from surgery, your eyes will continue to change at the same rate they did before surgery. |
